Sulawesi Languages Listed Alphabetically
The following is an alphabetical list of the languages that are indigenous to the island of Sulawesi and its immediate environs in Indonesia. Each name is a link which takes you to Sulawesi Language Alliance's page for that language.
There are a small number of differences between our list and the languages that are presented in the current edition of the Ethnologue. These differences are:
-
the language referred to in the Ethnologue as Kioko is referred to here as Kambowa;
-
the language referred to in the Ethnologue as Makassar Malay is referred to here as Makassar Indonesian;
-
the Ethnologue’s Laiyolo language is treated here as two separate languages, Laiyolo and Barang-Barang.
