Phrase and Sentence Lists

The series Sulang Language Data and Working Papers: Phrase and Sentence Lists is published by Sulawesi Language Alliance. The aim of this series is to make available phrase- and sentence-length data on languages of Sulawesi. The distinguishing characteristic of a phrase or sentence list is that the data are generally longer than single words, but shorter than (do not constitute) coherent texts or conversations. The data may follow a pre-arranged order useful for comparative purposes, such as the Sulawesi Sentence List. Alternatively, the list may be an ad hoc set compiled for grammatical or phonological analysis, for language learning, or for some other purpose.

Phrase and sentence lists are published ‘as is,’ in the same way that we have received them. The accuracy of the data is the responsibility of the person(s) compiling the list, and may vary depending on the researcher and the field conditions under which the list was compiled. To submit a phrase or sentence list for inclusion in this series, see our guidelines on how to submit a resource.

Papers in this series are posted as PDF files. PDF files can be viewed or printed using the free Adobe Reader.
